Mananchaya Sawangkaew vs Panna Udvardy prediction

Mananchaya Sawangkaew’s last event was the WTA 125k event in Philadelphia, which saw the Thai player win two matches to reach the quarter-finals, before a straight sets defeat to Katie Volynets. She is now ranked inside the world’s top 100. Sawangkaew has won three lower-level titles in 2026 and also reached the third-round at Wimbledon. She will be making her main draw debut at Flushing Meadows.

Her first-round opponent is Panna Udvardy. The Hungarian reached her first ever tour-level final earlier this season in Bogota, but she was unable to win the title after a defeat to Marie Bouzkova. Udvardy’s record on hard courts is not particularly impressive, with just three wins from 10 matches. She only entered the main draw of the Monterrey Open as a lucky loser, losing in round two to Elise Mertens.

Sawangkaew exceeded all expectations in the last Grand Slam she competed in, and she has enough quality in her game to navigate through this first-round assignment in New York.
