Mananchaya Sawangkaew vs Leylah Fernandez prediction

Mananchaya Sawangkaew continued her fine form as she beat Panna Udvardy in straight sets to progress to the second-round of the US Open. The Thai player, who reached the third-round at Wimbledon in July, was 3-0 down at the start of the match, but quickly turning things around to win 6-4 6-3. Sawangkaew reached the quarter-finals in Philadelphia last week, while she also qualified for the Cincinnati Open.

Her next opponent is 2021 finalist Leylah Fernandez. The Canadian made an authoritative start in New York, as she beat Shuai Zhang comfortably. Fernandez saved all seven break points she offered up, winning 6-3 6-2. She did show some encouraging form in Toronto last month, comfortably beating Renata Zarazua before producing an excellent performance to beat Mirra Andreeva. He run ended at the round-of-16 stage to Naomi Osaka. 

Sawangkaew is improving on hard courts, and she is capable of keeping this competitive, but Fernandez will be the favourite to come out on top here.
