Magdalena Frech vs Sorana Cirstea prediction

Magdalena Frech was knocked out early on in Montreal last week, as she was on the end of a heavy 6-1 6-1 defeat to Yuliia Starodubtseva. She failed to continue the momentum from her best tournament of the season in Washington a week earlier, where she made the quarter-finals. 

She begins her campaign in Cincinnati with a match against Sorana Cirstea. The 35-year-old Romanian picked up a fine win in round one as she defeated Donna Vekic in three sets. She has already reached two quarter-finals on a hard court this season in Dubai and Austin earlier in the year.

Frech leads the head-to-head 1-0 after defeating Cirstea in the second-round of the Birmingham Classic two years, but this will be their first match on a hard court. The Pole has been unconvincing for much of the season and may run into trouble against Cirstea, who has enjoyed some decent results during her comeback season. This could very well go to three sets.
