Magdalena Frech vs Maria Timofeeva prediction

Magdalena Frech has not enjoyed a big upturn in form after a difficult 2025, and she will hope for more consistency when she competes in Merida this week. She only entered the main draw in Dubai as a lucky loser and then lost in the first-round to Peyton Stearns in straight sets. She is yet to make it past the second round of a tournament this year so far, having lost at that stage in Melbourne and Doha.

She takes on Maria Timofeeva. The 22-year-old comes into the tournament as a qualifier. Her results have not been particularly encouraging in 2026, as she failed to qualify for the Brisbane International and then lost in the first qualifying stage of the Australian Open. Her win-loss record for the season currently stands at four wins and three losses, though she has featured on the ITF circuit too.

Frech won their previous meeting, in the qualifying round of the 2024 Qatar Open, and though she isn’t in the best of form, she is the favourite again here.
