Magdalena Frech vs Karolina Muchova prediction
Magdalena Frech produced a fine comeback to beat Veronika Kudermetova and book a place in round two of the Wuhan Open. She dominated the first set, only for Kudermetova to break twice in the second to force a decider. The Russian continued to dominate as she established a 3-1 lead in the third set, but Frech reeled off five games in a row, breaking Kudermetova’s serve on three successive occasions, to win 6-3 2-6 6-3. It has not been the strongest of seasons for the Pole, but she did make the last eight here last year and she’ll take confidence from that comeback win.
Muchova defeated Marta Kostyuk in the first-round. In gruelling conditions, the Czech recovered from a poor start to win 2-6 6-2 6-4. Muchova struggled to close the match out, but still got the job done against an incredibly tough first-round opponent.
Muchova leads the head-to-head 2-0. They last played each other in the second-round of the US Open two years ago. Muchova is favoured to come out on top again and continue her unbeaten run against Frech.
