Mirra Andreeva will need to hit the ground running at Wimbledon.
The French Open champion’s transition from clay to grass has seen her play – and lose – just one match in Bad Homburg.
The fifth seed could therefore be vulnerable against Magda Linette, who reached the last four on the turf of s’Hertogenbosch.
Andreeva leads the head-to-head 3-1, losing at the Olympic Games in Paris but prevailing most recently by a 7-6 6-1 scoreline in Doha this year.
This will be a maiden battle on grass and it will come down to how quickly the 19-year-old Russian adapts against a world number 58, who knows how to beat some of the very best.
It wouldn’t be the first time a French Open came unstuck early at Wimbledon, but we think Mirra will find her feet to avoid the shock.
