Madison Keys has bad memories when it comes to facing Laura Siegemund. It was in the third round of Wimbledon this year when the German knocked out the Australian Open champion from the USA, defeating Keys in straight sets on her way to the quarter-finals, where she eventually fell to Aryna Sabalenka.

On the hard court, Keys will hope for more success against Siegemund, but the latter’s vast experience makes her a real challenge. Her tennis IQ is extremely high and Keys will need to play at a high level, relying on her power to try and seize the initiative early on in rallies and convert plenty of her first serves.

It would be no surprise to see Siegemund take a set from Keys and push the American to the limit. But Keys is rested and should improve the longer this match goes on, so back her offensive to eventually overwhelm Siegemund.
