Madison Keys vs Clara Tauson prediction
The last time these two players clashed earlier this year, Clara Tauson got the better of Madison Keys in straight sets, winning 6-4, 7-6 at the ASB Classic in Auckland all the way back in January. But Keys bounced back in spectacular fashion, going on to win in Adelaide before securing her first ever Grand Slam title at the Australian Open, whilst Tauson hasn’t yet matched the heights she enjoyed in Auckland, where she went on to win her third WTA tour singles title.
Keys has come through her last two Canadian Open matches in three sets, beating fellow American Caty McNally before getting the better of fellow seed Karolina Muchova in a tense encounter, coming from behind to win 4-6, 6-3, 7-5. Tauson though, is riding the crest of a wave after the 22-year-old stunned the formidable Iga Swiatek in the fourth round.
This is a contest that could go either way. Both Keys and Tauson boast significant baseline power, so the player with less errors with their placement will clearly be in the better position. But with both playing great tennis, we should see a match high on quality and it would be no surprise if these two needed three sets to determine a winner.
