Mackenzie McDonald vs Quentin Halys prediction
Mackenzie McDonald enters the match as a lucky loser as he lost in the final stage of qualifying to Rei Sakamoto. He did make the quarter-final of the Jingshan Challenger a few days earlier, while he also advanced to round two of Chengdu on the ATP Tour after needing to qualify. McDonald has failed to win consecutive ATP matches this year and doesn’t have a title on the Challenger Tour, despite a final in San Diego at the beginning of March.
Quentin Halys’s last match saw him retire against Arthur Cazaux in the final stage of qualifying for the China Open. The Frenchman has lost 10 out of his last 11 matches and has endured a miserable season, excluding his run to the semi-finals of Dubai all the way back in February.
Halys leads the head-to-head 1-0 after a victory over McDonald in Miami two years ago. However, his poor form perhaps hands the advantage to the American for this one, with McDonald capable of getting through.
