Mackenzie McDonald vs Gael Monfils prediction
Mackenzie McDonald was competitive on his first start on grass this season at the Libema Open. He got through his qualifying rounds and earned a victory in the first-round after beating Mattia Bellucci. He then pushed third seed Karen Khachanov all the way in his next match but lost on a deciding tiebreak. He once again navigated his way through qualifying for this event, doing so without the drop of a set.
Gael Monfils lost in the first-round of the Stuttgart Open last week, going down in three sets to Alex Michelsen. The Frenchman has generally struggled on grass during his career, only making one final at the Eastbourne International in 2017 and reaching the second week of Wimbledon on just one occasion despite competing at the event 13 times.
McDonald, ranked 98 in the world, has picked up a few wins since the beginning of the grass season and could cause a few problems for Monfils, but the French veteran will still be expected to book a place into the next round.
