Lulu Sun vs Yafan Wang prediction

Lulu Sun continued her upturn in form as she knocked top seed Jessica Bouzas Maneiro out of the Guangzhou Open in the first-round. The Spaniard served for the first set but Sun broke back and took it on a tiebreak. Bouzas-Maneiro opened up another lead in the second set as she won the first three service games but Sun hit back again and dominated another tiebreak to win 7-6(3) 7-6(2) after one hour and 58 minutes. The New Zealander did create plenty of chances with 14 break point opportunities, but she only converted three of those. Sun has advanced to two finals on the ITF circuit over the past month and is enjoying her best run of form this year.

Her next opponent is Yafan Wang. She defeated Kamilla Rakhimova in straight sets to get through. She breezed through the first set but the second was more tough going as breaks were traded in five consecutive service games. Wang earned another crucial break and held on to win 6-2 6-4.

Sun has been performing strongly during this Asian swing and deserves to be seen as the favourite to advance here.
