Lulu Sun vs Caty McNally prediction

Lulu Sun continued her fine form with a dominant display to beat Yafan Wang in straight sets. The New Zealander did not even face a break point and won a commanding 92% of her first serve points as she wrapped up a 6-3 6-1 win after just one hour. She now has seven wins from her last eight matches, including the qualifying rounds, having got through to a final on the ITF circuit in Jinan last week.

Caty McNally is her next opponent. The American produced a battling performance to get past Ajla Tomljanovic. McNally was in command after taking the first set and going 3-0 up in the second, but Tomljanovic, who made the quarter-finals in Ningbo last week, broke on two occasions to force a decider. McNally raised her game to raise into a 5-1 lead and eventually sealed a 6-4 4-6 6-3 win.

There’s little to separate the pair, but Sun hasn’t dropped a set so far this week and is enjoying her best run of form for quite some time. She has momentum on her side and that could propel her to a first WTA semi-final of the season.
