Lulu Sun vs Antonia Ruzic prediction
Lulu Sun suffered a slide down the rankings after her first-round exit at Wimbledon, having reached the quarter-finals last year. She made her return in Montreal last week, winning her first-round match against Sorana Cirstea but then losing to SW19 finalist Amanda Anisimova in the next stage of the tournament. Sun has failed to reach the last eight of a tournament this season, with the New Zealander’s best result being a third-round appearance at Indian Wells.
She goes up against Antonia Ruzic. The Croatian qualified for the Canadian Open last week and also made the second-round. She then followed that up with two victories in qualifying for this event and has four wins from her last five matches overall. The 22-year-old has two titles on the ITF Tour this season and is ranked three places above Sun in the world rankings.
Sun has struggled for form during much of the season and may run into trouble against Ruzic. This is likely to be an evenly-matched contest and may head to a decider.
