Already guaranteed to finish top of the table, Luke Littler needs just one win in Sheffield to surpass the 40 points he achieved on his debut Premier League campaign last year, and the reigning champion will fancy his chances given that he opens against the player currently occupying last place.

The world champion won an astonishing quarter-final with nearest rival Luke Humphries in Aberdeen last week, averaging 115.96 in a 6-3 triumph over the world number two, who averaged 110.01 himself. Littler went on to lose a tight game to Chris Dobey in the semi-finals.

Although Stephen Bunting was never truly in the playoff race, his improved results over the last couple of months means that he can finish as high as sixth, and extra prize money on offer for a higher placement, he will still be motivated to perform.

Littler and Bunting have shared the stage four times in this year's competition, with Littler winning three of those. The last two - both shared - have gone to a deciding leg though, and with Littler perhaps taking his foot off the gas a little this week, another close match containing over 9.5 legs could be on the cards.
