Luke Littler's quest to win every major darts tournament in 2026 finally came to an end at the recent World Series of Darts Finals, but in some ways that defeat may ease some of the pressure on his young shoulders.
The world number one has still one every major ranking event in this calendar year though, and he is the overwhelming favourite to go all the way in Leicester, having done so in emphatic fashion 12 months ago.
His first-round opponent, Luke Woodhouse, has made some big steps in darts this year however, winning on both the European and Players Championship tours, and he looks ready to make the next step in his career.
Anything can happen over such a short format, and you have to think that this is where Littler is most vulnerable. Although it seems too much of a risk to bet against the world champion at this first hurdle, we think there is decent value in backing this to go to a deciding set.
