Luciano Darderi vs Shintaro Mochizuki prediction
Luciano Darderi lost three of his five matches during the Asian swing. His best result was a third-round appearance at the Shanghai Masters, where he would lose to compatriot Loreno Musetti in two close sets. His hard court record for this season still does not make for great reading, with 11 defeats from 17 matches. However, it’s still been an incredible season for Darderi, who has won four titles overall and is now at his highest ranking of 26 in the world.
He will begin his campaign in Almaty against Shintaro Mochizuki. He exacted revenge against Arthur Cazaux in the first-round as he beat him in straight sets to advance. Cazaux had defeated Mochizuki just a few days earlier in the final of the Jinan Challenger, but the Japanese player produced a fine performance to win 6-4 6-4, holding his serve throughout the match.
Darderi will start as the clear favourite, but he is primarily someone who excels on clay courts. Mochizuki is likely to be a test for the Italian.
