Luciano Darderi vs Roman Safiullin prediction
Luciano Darderi has been unable to find success in the grass court tournaments leading up to Wimbledon. He lost to Nicolas Jarry in the first-round of the Libema Open despite taking the first set and was close to pulling off a stunning victory against former world number three Stefanos Tsitsipas but lost on a deciding tiebreak. His winless run extended to five matches after a loss to Marcos Giron in Eastbourne.
His opponent Roman Safiullin has also struggled over the last few weeks. The Russian lost in the first-round of Stuttgart and then couldn’t make it out of qualifying for Halle. He did manage a win on the main draw in Mallorca but could not sustain it as he lost to Hamad Medjedovic in the second-round.
Safiullin made a stunning run to the quarter-finals of Wimbledon two years ago on his debut and also backed that up with a credible run to the third-round last year. He has not been at his best on grass yet but could raise his game and get the better of an out-of-form Darderi in the first-round here.
