Luciano Darderi vs Nuno Borges prediction
Luciano Darderi continued his unbeaten run against Yannick Hanfmann as he beat the German for the fourth time this season to progress to the quarter-finals of the Mallorca Championships. Darderi was under pressure on numerous occasions, but managed to save all 12 break points he offered up as the Italian won 7-5 6-3. This was his first grass court match of the campaign.
He will now take on Nuno Borges. The Portuguese made it two wins from two this week as he beat Jan-Lennard Struff in straight sets. Borges was not broken on serve and largely controlled the match as he won 6-4 7-5. He beat Adrian Mannarino in his first-round match.
Borges leads the head-to-head 1-0 after coming from a set down to beat Darderi in Auckland right at the start of last year. This doesn’t feel like a match where one player runs away with it, as Borges’ consistency could balance out Darderi’s greater firepower.
