These two players meet for the first time on clay and for the second time in their respective careers. Marie Bouzkova came out on top in their last encounter but it was too long ago to really have an impact when it comes to breaking down this rematch. Bouzkova though comes into it having accumulated an impressive clay court record this season, winning seven and losing just three on the surface.
Lucia Bronzetti made it through the qualifiers in order to reach the main draw and unlike Bouzkova, the Italian has struggled on clay this year, losing over ten games. In four previous appearances at the French Open, she’s never gone beyond the first round which doesn’t bode well for her against Bouzkova.
The 27-year-old Czech has got to the third round here in each of the last two years and is well worth backing to take a step towards repeating that feat for a third time by overcoming Bronzetti.
