Luca Van Assche will be competing in his first tournament since winning a Challenger event in Parma. That was his third title of the campaign. The Frenchman is yet to pick up a victory at Wimbledon, as he lost in the first-round in 2023 and 2024, while he failed to qualify last year.
His opponent is Marton Fucsovics. He began his grass court season with a comeback win over Hubert Hurkacz at the Libema Open, before a defeat to Felix Auger-Aliassime in the next round. Another loss followed in the first-round of Queen’s Club to Brandon Nakashima in straight sets. Fucsovics is a former quarter-finalist at Wimbledon, achieving the feat in 2021. He also was able to win two matches in 2025, advancing to round three before a defeat to Ben Shelton.
Van Assche is yet to excel on grass, and Fucsovics should be able to dominate the rallies with a more aggressive approach.
