Luca Nardi vs Carlos Alcaraz prediction

Carlos Alcaraz notched up his 50th win of the season to surge into the round of 16 in Cincinnati. 

The world number two was far more consistent than in his topsy-turvy clash with Damir Dzumhur as he saw off Hamad Medjedovic 6-4 6-4.

The Spaniard will now lock horns with lucky loser Luca Nardi, who surprised Jakub Mensik as the Czech struggled with the hot conditions and retired at 6-2 2-1 down.

Alcaraz won his first ever meeting with the Italian in Doha earlier this year and it was a bumpy ride as he eventually triumphed 6-1 4-6 6-3. 

The difficult climate is leading to plenty of shocks and scares in this draw and this could be another tricky assignment for the five-time Grand Slam champion.

Nardi could surprise by nicking another set, but it’s unlikely he’ll have the consistently high level required to pull off a huge surprise.
