Lorenzo Sonego vs Vit Kopriva prediction

Lorenzo Sonego is still struggling to generate momentum this season as he lost two of his three matches at back-to-back Masters events in Canada and Cincinnati. The Italian was defeated by Tallon Griekspoor in the first-round of the Canadian Open, though he did win his opening match at the latter event against Juncheng Shang. Sonego was searching for consecutive victories, but he would fall to defeat against Frances Tiafoe in straight sets. He is yet to make a quarter-final this season, with his best result being a third-round appearance at Wimbledon.

His first-round opponent in Winston-Salem is Vit Kopriva. The Czech was the fourth seed in Cancun on the Challenger Tour last week, but he lost in the round-of-16 to Lloyd Harris. Kopriva has produced his best tennis on clay, but he is yet to establish himself as a consistent threat on hard courts.

Sonego may just have the edge on this surface, but there will be pressure on the 31-year-old to perform.
