Lorenzo Sonego vs Tristan Schoolkate prediction
Lorenzo Sonego failed to defend his Winston-Salem title last week after a defeat to Jaume Munar in round three. The Italian was fortunate not to be eliminated in the previous stage as he went a break down to Stefan Dostanic in the final set on his ATP Tour debut. Sonego has not managed to go any further than the third-round in any of his hard court tournaments after Wimbledon. However, he does have a strong record in slams this year with a round four finish at SW19 backed up by a quarter-final appearance at the Australian Open.
Tristan Schoolkate has enjoyed a breakthrough year, cracking the top 100, capturing his first ATP Challenger grass court title in Ilkley and even taking a set off world number one Jannik Sinner in the first-round of the Australian Open. In the past month, he has reached the quarter-finals of the Los Cabos Open and made round two of the Canadian Open after qualifying for the event.
Sonego has far more experience and will be expected to come through this one, though Schoolkate could be difficult opposition if he plays with belief and intensity.
