Lorenzo Sonego vs Jan-Lennard Struff prediction

Lorenzo Sonego last competed in the Stuttgart Open last week, losing in the first-round to Quentin Halys despite taking the first set. The Italian is struggling to see matches out, having lost to Ben Shelton in the first-round of the French Open a few weeks earlier despite being two sets to one up. Overall, Sonego has struggled for form this season after his run to the quarter-finals of the Australian Open, his best ever appearance at a Grand Slam.

Jan-Lennard Struff has also endured a poor campaign with a number of first-round exits. The German is now ranked outside the top 100 but was given a wildcard for this tournament. The transition to grass seemed to have the desired effect initially as ended a four-match losing streak with a first-round win over Matteo Arnaldi in the first-round of Stuttgart. However, he would then go on to lose to Jiri Lehecka.

The head-to-head is 1-1, though Sonego won their only meeting on grass. He defeated Struff in the second-round of the Stuttgart Open three years ago. There’s little to separate these two but Sonego may just have the edge.
