Lorenzo Sonego ended a three-match losing streak against Adrian Mannarino as he defeated the Frenchman in straight sets at the Winston-Salem Open. The 31-year-old dominated the opening set but found himself 5-2 down in the second. He then won five of the next six games to clinch a 6-1 7-6 (5) victory after one hour and 52 minutes.

He now faces James Duckworth for a place in the last eight. Duckworth beat Mariano Navone in the previous round. He made a fast start by winning the first five games of the match, as he went ahead after the first set. The second was less straightforward, with Navone opening up a 4-1 lead, but the Australian fought back to win 6-3 7-6 (5).

Sonego will be motivated to reach a first quarter-final of the campaign, and he has the weapons to trouble Duckworth. He should have the edge in this matchup.
