Lorenzo Sonego vs Daniel Altmaier prediction
Lorenzo Sonego advanced to his fourth quarter-final of the season after coming from a set down to beat compatriot Flavio Cobolli in Metz. Cobolli largely controlled the first set but Sonego wasn’t broken on serve after that, grabbing a late break in set three to win 2-6 6-3 7-5.
He will go up against Daniel Altmaier in the next round. The German advanced after Hugo Gaston was forced to withdraw from their match before the start of the deciding set. Gaston made the better start and took the first set 6-4 but was clearly hampered by injury in the second as Altmaier squared the match up, winning it 6-0.
Sonego has not been at his best this season but has achieved his best results in these conditions, with three of his quarter-final appearances coming indoors. This is his best chance of the season to make a semi-final and he should be expected to come through against the lower-ranked Altmaier.
