Lorenzo Sonego vs Aleksandar Kovacevic prediction

Lorenzo Sonego got off to a strong start in Stockholm as he eased past Arthur Fery in straight sets. Fery was making his ATP Tour debut and offered resistance in the first set, though Sonego broke in the ninth game before serving it out to take the lead. Sonego raced into a 4-0 lead in the second and despite Fery breaking back to reduce the deficit, kept his composure to close out a 6-4 6-2 win.

He will next play Aleksandar Kovacevic. The American advanced after his first-round opponent Camilo Ugo Carabelli retired in the deciding set. Ugo Carabelli had taken the first set before Kovacevic hit back in the second. Kovacevic had broken twice to get to 4-0 in the third when the Argentine decided he could not continue.

It was not the most convincing of performances from the American, who had lost his five previous matches before the tournament begun. Despite his average season, Sonego is less prone to errors and will be determined to make a deep run with not long left of the season to go. He is the favourite to make a third quarter-final of the season.
