Lorenzo Musetti vs Yannick Hanfmann prediction
Lorenzo Musetti was unable to make a key breakthrough during the Asian swing, despite reaching a final in Chengdu. He had championship points against Alejandro Tabilo but could not get the job done. He then retired from his quarter-final match against Learner Tien in Beijing and was soundly beaten by Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets at the Shanghai Masters having got through to the last-16. Musetti is currently ranked eighth in the Road to Turin as he seeks to qualify for the World Tour Finals, which will be staged in his home country of Italy.
Yannick Hanfmann continued his upwards trajectory as the qualifier defeated Matteo Arnaldi in three sets to book his place in the last-16 of the European Open. The German lost the first set and seemed to be down and out after Arnaldi broke to go 3-2 up in the second, but he broke straight back and upped his level to square the match up. He did not even concede a break point in the decider as he applied late pressure on the Italian who was serving to stay in the match. The pressure told, with Hanfmann coming through to win 6-7 6-4 6-4.
Musetti leads the head-to-head 2-1 but their matches have all been on clay. Though Hanfmann has momentum from his previous wins, Musetti will be determined to make a deep run in Brussels with the Tour Finals in mind.
