Lorenzo Musetti vs Taylor Fritz prediction

Lorenzo Musetti makes his maiden appearance at the ATP Finals and will receive great support from the Italian home crowd. He competed in the inaugural Hellenic Championship in Athens last week knowing he needed to win the event to qualify for the end of season event. He would make the final, but lost to top seed Novak Djokovic in three sets. Nevertheless, Djokovic’s subsequent withdrawal from Turin opened up a space for Musetti to fill.

His first match is against Taylor Fritz, who made the final last year. The American won two titles this year, while he also reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon for the first time in his career. His best Masters results were two last four appearances in Miami and Toronto. Fritz has faded over the last month, as he lost in round three of both 1000 events in Shanghai and Paris.

Musetti leads the head-to-head 3-2. Fritz won their first two meetings, which included their only indoor match at the Davis Cup, but the Italian came out on top on three successive occasions last year.

Both of these players are running on empty with the season close to its end, especially Musetti after he only just competed in Athens. Fritz performed well at this tournament last year and his serve will be a key weapon on this fast surface. He's the favourite against Musetti here.
