Lorenzo Musetti vs Lorenzo Sonego prediction
Lorenzo Musetti kept up his consistent form last week as he made it to the semi-finals of the Vienna Open, losing in straight sets to second seed Alexander Zverev. A title has alluded the Italian this season but he’s entered the top 10 for the first time and fashioned deep runs at a number of events. He enjoyed a strong clay court campaign, making the semi-finals or better of all Masters events on the surface, along with a quarter-final at the US Open.
He goes up against fellow countryman Lorenzo Sonego in the second-round of the Paris Masters. Sonego picked up a fine win in the previous round as he beat Sebastian Korda in straight sets. He broke on five separate occasions to win 6-2 6-3 after just an hour and 28 minutes.
They have faced each other on one previous occasion, and it was also indoors, with Musetti comfortably beating Sonego 6-3 6-2 in the first-round of Vienna last year. The world number eight knows a deep run here will clinch qualification for the World Tour Finals and he will be determined to get a win. Sonego certainly isn’t the easiest match, and some of his best form this season has come indoors, but Musetti has enough variety and quality to win.
