Lorenzo Musetti vs Carlos Alcaraz prediction

Lorenzo Musetti booked his place in the semi-final of a Grand Slam for the second time after defeating Frances Tiafoe in four sets. The Italian suffered a drop in performance in the middle part of the match but finished strongly to win 6-2 4-6 7-5 6-2. He’s been one of the standout players of this clay season and becomes just the fifth man since the ATP was formed in 1990 to reach the semi-finals or better of all three clay Masters 1000 events and the French Open in one year.

He takes on Carlos Alcaraz in the last four after the defending champion dismantled Tommy Paul 6-0 6-1 6-4 to make the semi-finals at Roland Garros for the third straight year. The Spaniard produced his best display of the tournament so far with a performance full of ferocious hitting and winners aplenty. 

Alcaraz leads the head-to-head 5-1 and 3-1 on clay. They’ve already played each other twice in this clay court season, with the four-time Grand Slam champion defeating Musetti in the final of Monte-Carlo and the semi-finals of Rome.

Despite Musetti’s recent consistency, he has not managed to cause Alcaraz too many problems in recent times and we don’t see that changing here in a best of five set encounter.
