Lorenzo Musetti will face Andrey Rublev in a blockbuster semi-final in Hong Kong.
The top seed ended wildcard Coleman Wong’s hopes with a confident 6-4 6-4 victory.
The Italian will now meet third seed Andrey Rublev after the Russian posted a 6-3 6-4 success over Nuno Borges.
Rublev leads the head-to-head 1-0 but that win was back in 2020 and will have little relevance here.
Musetti was one of the strongest players on tour last year so this will be a test of whether Andrey is going to hit a higher level in 2026, having struggled to make the sort of impact that has made him a top ten mainstay last year.
It’s going to be a real tussle and well worth considering it going the distance, but if Rublev’s forehand can attack the Musetti backhand enough, it may be the pathway to victory.
