Lorenzo Musetti vs Alexander Zverev prediction

Lorenzo Musetti will be eyeing a third final of the year when he takes on Alexander Zverev in a mouthwatering last four clash in Vienna.

The Italian ended the swashbuckling run of Corentin Moutet with a 6-3 6-4 success over the Frenchman to set a fifth career clash with the German second seed.

Zverev will be fresh for the contest having been handed a walkover when Tallon Griekspoor withdrew but will need to change the narrative in the match-up with Musetti leading 3-1 in the head-to-head.

The world number three hasn’t defeated the Italian since 2022 and lost at the Olympics last year as well as in Rome this year, but perhaps most notably in terms of this encounter, Musetti won 2-6 7-6 6-4 when they locked horns at this tournament 12 months ago.

Zverev is always a dangerous proposition on an indoor hardcourt and maybe even more so when it could be suggested he would not go into the match as favourite, despite being the higher-ranked player.

It very much could go either way and it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if it went the distance just like it did at the quarter-final stage last year.
