Lorenzo Musetti vs Alex de Minaur prediction

Lorenzo Musetti’s ATP Finals debut did not go as planned as he lost to Taylor Fritz in straight sets. The Italian had only just competed in the final of the Hellenic Championship in Athens two days earlier and was not at his best against Fritz, failing to break the American’s serve and struggling to create any momentum as he lost 6-3 6-4.

Alex de Minaur also got off to a losing start in Turin as he was defeated by Carlos Alcaraz. The Australian performed well in the first set as he came from 4-1 down to draw level, but he would lose a tight tiebreak and lost his way in the second, with Alcaraz winning 7-6 (5) 6-2. De Minaur has now failed to win all four of his matches at the tournament stretching back to last year.

This a huge match for both players, with the loser of this likely to be eliminated. Musetti leads the head-to-head 3-1, having won the last three meetings, including two this year in Monte-Carlo and Madrid. This is going to be the Italian’s sixth match in seven days, and he did show signs of possible fatigue in his match against Fritz. De Minaur will look to extent the rallies here in the early stages and wear Musetti down as the match goes on.

This is the Australian’s best chance of a maiden Tour Finals win.
