Liudmila Samsonova vs Qinwen Zheng prediction

Qinwen Zheng’s recent love affair with Paris continues following a strong performance in what could have been a tricky third round clash with rising star Victoria Mboko.

The 18-year-old Canadian is being tipped for big things in the not-too-distant future but the Chinese eighth seed was laser-focused to post a 6-3 6-4 victory. 

It stretches Zheng’s winning run at the venue following her Olympic Gold triumph last summer. 

Liudmila Samsonova will feel she has the tools to snap that streak having notched up three straight sets wins in the French capital on the back of a run to the final in Strasbourg last week. 

The 19th seed also has a 3-2 lead in matches played in the head-to-head with Zheng and won 6-3 6-2 in their last tussle in Montreal two years ago. 

Zheng won their only face-off on the dirt four years ago but there's no doubt she will be tested by the in-form Samsonova, who is playing her best tennis of the year.

If Zheng serves well and finds the right balance of depth and power in her ground strokes, she will be tough to take down and she is still carrying the feel-good factor that means she has full belief that this is a lucky part of the world for her.
