Liudmila Samsonova vs Katerina Siniakova prediction

Liudmila Samsonova suffered a surprising first-round defeat at the Libema Open as she lost to Carson Branstine in three sets. She did fare a lot better in Berlin however, defeating third seed Jessica Pegula and thrashing Amanda Anisimova on her way to making the semi-finals. She seems to be finding her feet on the grass now and takes on Katerina Siniakova in round one here.

Siniakova won both of her qualifying matches to make the main draw. She also competed at the German Open last week, making the second-round before losing to former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina in straight sets. The Czech, who is the current number one in doubles, has not been particularly threatening in singles this year.

Siniakova leads the head-to-head 2-1 and 2-0 on grass. This will be the third time in a row they’ve played against each other at this very tournament, with the Czech winning on both occasions in 2023 and 2024.

However, Samsonova is in the better form of the two and should be able to register her first victory against Siniakova at the event.
