Liudmila Samsonova vs Jessica Pegula prediction

Liudmila Samsonova booked her place in the quarter-finals with a straight sets win over Aliaksandra Sasnovich. Samsonova went down an early break but recovered with two breaks of her own to take the first set. She was pegged back in the second set after establishing a 3-0 lead, but still went on to win 6-4 6-4 after one hour and 47 minutes.

Jessica Pegula came from a set down once more to make it through to the last eight. Pegula looked set to take the first set when she went 5-3 up but Dayana Yastremska reeled off four games in a row to go in front. The American responded well and despite going an early break down in the decider, came back to win 5-7 6-2 6-3.

Pegula leads the head-to-head 4-2. They played twice last year, with Pegula winning their first meeting in Dubai and Samsonova coming out on top in Berlin. Pegula seems to find a way to win, but she will have to work hard for the victory once again and may need three sets.
