Liudmila Samsonova vs Hailey Baptiste prediction

Hailey Baptiste backed up her fine form in the Australian Open with a shock win over fellow American Emma Navarro.

The world number 56 gave Coco Gauff a scare in the third round in Melbourne and made it back-to-back victories in Abu Dhabi with a shock 7-6 0-6 6-3 triumph over the fourth seed.

Baptiste now faces Liudmila Samsonova for a spot in the last four after the fifth seed surged to a 6-2 6-2 success over Janice Tjen.

This will be their third meeting with Baptise shocking the Russian 6-2 2-6 6-4 on the clay in Rome last year.

Samonsova won their only clash on a hardcourt in three at the 2020 Australian Open.

The American is playing some big-hitting and resilient tennis at the moment and that should not be underestimated.

Samsonsova is such a tidy performer and she should be too consistent overall, but Hailey’s fighting qualities could well see her force a decider.
