Liudmila Samsonova vs Elina Svitolina prediction

Liudmila Samsonova ended a five-match losing run in the first-round of the Bad Homburg Open as she defeated Katerina Siniakova in straight sets. Siniakova had won their two previous meetings at this event, but it was Samsonova who prevailed on this occasion as she won 6-3 7-5. This was her first win since the opening round of the Italian Open at the start of May.

She will now face third seed Elina Svitolina. The Ukrainian was viewed as one of the favourites for the title in Berlin last week, especially after her dominant win over Eva Lys which saw her advance to the quarter-finals. However, she was upset by Alexandra Eala in the last eight. It has still been a very strong season for Svitolina, with two titles and 35 wins from 44 matches overall. 

Svitolina will look to get back to winning ways swiftly with a comfortable win over Samsonova.
