Linda Noskova will compete in her first event since losing a close three set encounter with Karolina Muchova in the third-round of the US Open last month. It’s been a solid season for the 20-year-old, who reached her highest ranking of 23 in the world two months ago. Noskova reached the final of her home event in Prague, and has also got through to two semi-finals and three quarter-finals in 2025. Her best run at a WTA 1000 event this season saw her get through to the last eight in Dubai on hard court.

Xiyu Wang set up a meeting with the Czech after defeating her compatriot Hanyu Guo in straight sets. A close first set went the way of Wang after a late break of serve and she dominated the second to win 7-5 6-1 after one hour and 33 minutes. She was potent when it came to taking her break point opportunities as she converted six out of a possible seven on offer.

The head-to-head is 1-1 with Noskova leading 1-0 on hard courts. Wang won their first encounter at the Olympics last year, with Noskova exacting revenge a few weeks later in Monterrey with a straight sets victory. She will be expected to get the job done with a similar result again here.
