Linda Noskova vs Caty McNally prediction
Linda Noskova will make her return to the tour after winning her first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon last month. The Czech beat compatriot Karolina Muchova in a thrilling three set final, which saw Noskova squander championship points in the second as Muchova threatened a comeback, only to race clear in the decider. She has moved up to world number seven, and is the sixth seed at this event. Noskova has already performed strongly at a hard court WTA 1000 event this season, reaching the semi-finals of Indian Wells.
Caty McNally is her second-round opponent. The American recovered from a set and a break down to beat Tatjana Maria in her opening match. Maria was just two games from victory as she took the lead and opened up a 4-2 lead in the second, but McNally would fight back to win 4-6 7-6 (4) 6-1. McNally lost six games in a row at one point, having gone 4-0 up at the start of the match.
Noskova may need a few games to readjust, having not featured for over three weeks. Nevertheless, she is the clear favourite to win.
