Lin Zhu vs Lucia Bronzetti prediction
Lin Zhu enjoyed one of her best weeks in quite a while as she made the fourth-round of the Canadian Open last time out. Using her protected ranking, the Chinese defeated Varvara Gracheva, Ekaterina Alexandrova and Suzan Lamens to get through to the round-of-16. She was unable to go any further, losing to Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in three sets, but this was a major step in the right direction for the 31-year-old after struggles with form and injuries for a sustained period of time.
She goes up against Lucia Bronzetti in the first-round. Bronzetti made the second-round in Montreal, but lost heavily to Clara Tauson 6-1 6-2. This followed up a quarter-final in Bastad a few weeks earlier. The Italian is not struggling as much as she did during the middle part of the season but she still has a negative win-loss record in 2025.
Zhu played some superb stuff in Montreal and will hope to continue the momentum in Cincinnati. Bronzetti doesn't have enough weapons to trouble Zhu's defences, and we back the Chinese player to make it through to round two.
