She won her first tour-level title in Prague last month after triumphing over Daria Snigur in the final. Tagger also got past two-time major champion Barbora Krejcikova. The 18-year-old reached a career high ranking of 45 in the world last month.

Talia Gibson continued her impressive record at WTA 1000 hard court events this season as she beat Elisabetta Cocciaretto and Maja Chwalinska to reach the third-round. She then faced Ekaterina Alexandrova, a player she defeated at Indian Wells earlier this season. Another fine victory looked on the cards as the Australian took the first set, but Alexandrova fought back to win in three.

Gibson has shown herself to be a very dangerous player on this surface in 2026, but Tagger cannot be counted out after her fine recent run. This should be an engrossing encounter.
