Leylah Fernandez vs Coco Gauff prediction
Leylah Fernandez produced a dominant performance in round two as she beat Maria Sakkari in straight sets. The Canadian, who won the Washington Open in late July, broke right at the start of the match and won the last nine games as she thrashed Sakkari 6-2 6-0 after one hour and 14 minutes. Fernandez was not broken on serve.
She now goes up against Coco Gauff as the American started the defence of her title with a 6-4 6-0 win over Kamilla Rakhimova. The match was closer than the scoreline suggested, with Gauff saving 10 break points in total but she did improve as the match wore on.
Gauff leads the head-to-head 2-0 after comfortable wins at the United Cup and the Australia Open within the last year. She seemed to be finding her groove at the end of her match with Rakhimova and will be a strong favourite to extend her winning run against Fernandez.
