Learner Tien comes into this one on the back of a straight sets defeat to 2014 US Open winner Marin Cilic in the first round of the ATP 500 Dallas Open last week. Tien, now the world number 23, is seeded fourth for this competition after an impressive 2025 followed by a quarter-final showing at last month’s Australian Open.
Miomir Kecmanovic produced an emphatic first round victory the other day as he dispatched of Mattia Bellucci in straight sets. The world number 69, who did reach a peak of 27 in 2023, enjoyed a quarter-final run at the Dallas Open last week, having previously suffered successive losses to kick of 2026.
Kecmanovic will be boosted by last week’s run in Dallas and his victory the other day but Tien remains the firm favourite as he bids for a second career ATP title.
