Learner Tien vs Daniil Medvedev prediction

Daniil Medvedev will hope to make it third time lucky against Learner Tien.

The American starlet has won both of their previous meetings, pulling off a major shock at the Australian Open back in January before the Russian retired at 7-5 5-7 0-4 down in Beijing last week. 

That aside, it has been a promising period for Medvedev since his US open meltdown and he now has six wins from his last eight after once again getting the better of Alejandro Davidovich Fokina by a 6-3 7-6 scoreline. 

Tien has also been in superb form, following up his maiden ATP final in Beijing with more solid work here, including a 7-6 6-3 success against Cameron Norrie last time out. 

There’s no doubt Medvedev will be desperate to win this and he did look on course in Beijing until cramp kicked in to thwart his efforts. 

Assuming the 16th seed doesn’t suffer physically this time around, we are going with him to battle his way to a win that would banish some demons and finally break his duck against the 19-year-old.
