Learner Tien vs Andrey Rublev prediction
Learner Tien overcame a stumble in the second set to defeat Nuno Borges in round one of the Paris Masters. The first set was straight-forward for the teenager, as he held serve throughout and broke the Borges serve twice to take a commanding lead. He broke again in the fifth game of the second set and served for the match at 5-4, only for Borges to break himself for the first time in the match. It went to a tense tiebreak, with Tien saving two set points before clinching a 6-2 7-6 (7) win after an hour and 21 minutes.
He goes up against Andrey Rublev for a place in the round-of-16. The Russian ended a four match losing streak as he cruised to a dominant victory over Jacob Fearnley. Rublev showed no signs of nerves as he raced into a big lead and sustained his level, winning his first match on tour since the third-round of the US Open in August. He won 6-1 6-4 after one hour and 18 minutes.
The head-to-head is locked at 1-1 after two matches in 2025. Tien won the first meeting in Washington, while Rublev exacted revenge in Cincinnati just a few weeks later. The Russian will head into this one with confidence after his first win in a while, but the 19-year-old seems to raise his game against higher ranked opponents and will relish this opportunity. A close three set match holds decent value.
