Leandro Riedi claimed his first main draw victory at a Grand Slam after he comfortably defeated Pedro Martinez in straight sets. Riedi took just two hours and eight minutes to defeat the Spaniard 6-4 6-2 6-3, with an aggressive performance seeing him generate 54 winners and 15 aces. He capitalised on Martinez failing to break his serve, despite his opponent creating eight break point opportunities.

Francisco Cerundolo staged a fine comeback from two sets and a break down to beat Matteo Arnaldi. He showed fine mental strength and greater consistency as the match wore on, winning 3-6 2-6 7-5 6-4 6-3. 

Riedi brings aggression and momentum on his side, after such a fine victory on his slam debut. Nevertheless, Cerundolo is now a seasoned campaigner on the tour and his ability to dig deep could overcome the Swiss player over time. 

We expect Cerundolo to come through this one and advance to the third-round in New York for the first time in his career.
