Laura Siegemund vs Magdalena Frech prediction
Laura Siegemund pulled off a shock in round two as she came from a set down to beat world number five Mirra Andreeva. The first two sets saw breaks being traded on a regular basis. However, Siegemund would go into a 2-0 lead at the start of the decider and then crucially save four break points to consolidate her advantage. She did not face another break point after that as she wrapped up a 6-7 6-3 6-3 win. Siegemund is one victory away from equalling her best result of the season, a quarter-final run at Wimbledon.
Magdalena Frech will be her opponent in the round-of-16. French advanced as her opponent Karolina Muchova was forced to retire in the second set. The Pole was 5-3 down in the first set but broke back and went on to take it on a tiebreak. She was leading 7-6 4-1 before Muchova decided she could not continue.
Both players will be desperate to get through to the quarters of a WTA 1000 for the first time his season and there’s little to separate the two in terms of form or ranking. It could go all the way to three sets.
