Daria Kasatkina will be eager to use her much-improved showing in Doha as signs her season is on the up.
The Aussie had won just one of her previous eight prior to a run to the round of 16 last week where she upset Elise Mertens and gave Iga Swiatek a scare.
The former world number eight will now meet Laura Siegemund for the fifth time and the first since 2018.
